GH Fusion Corporation Limited was founded in October 2001 as a joint venture between Towngas and the Fusion Group of UK. High quality PE piping and fittings are produced and they serve the gas and water industries in the mainland China and the nearby regions.

A technical visit to GH Fusion Polyethylene (PE) Pipe Fittings Plant in Zhongshan was organized by the Far East District Section on 27 February 2010. With sincere guidance by the Plant Manager, Mr. Carl Barker, and Deputy General Manager, Mr. Wing-sing Wan, to the production lines, participants had valuable chance to understand the process of making PE piping and the fittings.

For the production of PE piping, PE, stabilizer and additives are mixed and fed into the extruder and formed the pipe with the die. After the pipe sizing and cooling process, it can be printed with certain markings and cut in specific section. The production line is fully automatic; however, some procedures for the production of fitting are done manually, such as wrapping the wire in the coupler and measuring the angle for the elbow.

The visit was ended with a fruitful discussion. Mr. Patrick Lau, on behalf of the IGEM Far East Section and the participants, presented souvenirs and expressed our sincere gratitude to Mr. Carl and Mr. Wan for their informative site visiting tour.
